SULU SUNSET

SULU SUNSET

A 40 second film by Ligaya Fatima
..on the Sulu Sea… in time for sunset…my canine sidekick, Dos, and me…of Uno, Dos, & Tres – our family pack… sunsets last about 13 minutes on the Sulu Sea…local kids run up and down the beach shouting that the sunset is coming….every time… there are no mosquitos… you can hear karaoke from far down the beach on both sides… sun setting at 5pm means karaoke from 6 til forever… we’d be karaoking too – that night and most nights …the super popular song of the karaoke season on repeat is Zombie by The Cranberries coming at me from both sides… …offset by a chorus or few verses on either side… it’s a surreal loop of the super familiar song echoing up & down the coast…there are fishing boats that have been there all day … and they show up as the only lights on the black night Sulu Sea …

venice noir

A 142 second film by Ligaya Fatima
Part of a recent trip stateside included shooting endless visually-rich locations for future projects. Venice Beach was a simmering, gritty locale that was more dark than light regardless of HOW much sand and surf there was… a great place for a film noir. Dominating the side of a beachside building, 3 stories high, was a painted black and white mural, reminiscent of the title :”A TOUCH OF EVIL” and declaring ” A TOUCH OF VENICE” instead – not so subtle in it’s poignancy and timing given the environment – both immediate and political in October 2012. Shot by Ms. Ligaya & The Floydian Device

eatery monroe

posterized, simple, one finger fanatical, mixing The Eaterie’s Warholian Marylin Monroe and Mao Zedong art gallery, with wasabi filters, sashimi edits and a little miso simmer as we watched the Canucks lose… a dash of songify and away we go….
